Beattie Air played a pivotal role in the extension and refurbishment of the Selwyn Aquatic Centre, a project specified by Powell Fenwick Consultants Ltd in collaboration with Armitage Williams Construction. Beginning in 2020 and completed in July 2021, this project included the construction of a new 1400 m² pool hall, an extension of the existing pool with a 10-lane, 25-metre lap pool, and the refurbishment of the reception and changing room areas.

Our team installed three advanced Heat Recovery packaged Air Handling Units (AHU), which are unique in their ability to recover heat from the space’s ventilation. These units transfer the recovered heat to the fresh air supply and provide heating for the pool water, making the system highly efficient. The HVAC system included fabric ducting to distribute air effectively throughout the new pool hall. Additionally, we upgraded the existing Building Management System (BMS) to control air pressures between spaces, ensuring proper humidity management for the entire facility.

One of the key achievements of this project was our ability to complete it on time and to an exceptionally high standard, despite the staged nature of the work, which included modifications to existing systems alongside the new build. The seamless integration of these systems ensures energy efficiency and improved climate control throughout the facility.

The client, Selwyn District Council, was so impressed with our performance that they invited Beattie Air to upgrade another pool heating system at the facility, further solidifying our reputation for delivering reliable and innovative HVAC solutions.
